About 150 kilograms of food were seized from a restaurant in the Lungomare Colombo area of Salerno after inspectors found products that were expired or kept in unsuitable storage conditions.
The seized goods included meat, fish, pasta, fruit and vegetables, according to reports by Il Mattino and Ottopagine.
The inspection began after a report and was carried out by the Municipal Police's NOS unit together with personnel from the ASL-UOPC and the ASL Veterinary Service.
During the same visit, investigators found serious hygiene and sanitation deficiencies and ordered the closure of the food-service activity.
Authorities also reported the alleged unauthorized occupation of approximately 160 square metres of public land in connection with the same intervention.
The restaurant's name and exact address were not disclosed. The available reports do not specify the duration of the closure, the amount of any fines, or the disposal procedure for the seized food.
