Households in Avellino are projected to spend more on electricity and gas than anywhere else in Campania between September and December 2026, according to a Facile.it analysis reported by IrpiniaNews.

The projected average expenditure for an Avellino household over that four-month period is approximately 867 euros, an increase of 38.3% compared with the same period of the previous year. That puts Avellino first among the region's provinces for forecast household energy spending.

How Campania's provinces compare

The provincial figures, also listed by Il Mattino, show Avellino ahead of its regional neighbours:

  • Avellino: 867 euros, up 38.3%
  • Benevento: 829 euros, up 35.9%
  • Salerno: 805 euros, up 35.8%
  • Caserta: 766 euros, up 34.7%
  • Naples: approximately 731 euros, up 35.8%

The increase is therefore expected across all of Campania, but the projected bill is highest in Avellino, with a gap of about 136 euros over Naples for the September–December period.

National picture behind the forecast

The Avellino estimate comes from a wider national forecast by Facile.it for a typical free-market household with an indexed-price contract. Nationally, Facile.it estimates spending of 982 euros on electricity and gas between September and December 2026, about 40% more than the previous year.

That national total breaks down into 273 euros for electricity and 709 euros for gas. Facile.it links the projection to expected increases in wholesale prices: approximately 65% for the PUN, the wholesale electricity price, and 113% for the PSV, the wholesale gas price. The estimate uses EEX forward prices updated on 25 August 2026.

What the estimate assumes

Facile.it says the calculation includes energy costs, transport and meter management, system charges, taxes, and VAT. It is based on assumed annual consumption of 2,000 kWh of electricity and 1,100 Smc of gas for a typical household.

That household profile is useful for comparison, but it means individual bills will differ. Actual costs will vary with consumption, contract type, supplier margins, tariff structure, and applicable taxes.

A forecast, not a final bill

The figures for Avellino and the other provinces are forecasts conditional on wholesale-price assumptions, not confirmed future bills. The published reports do not provide the full provincial calculation methodology behind the 867-euro Avellino estimate.

They also do not establish whether the projected increases will affect regulated-market customers in the same way as indexed-price free-market customers, which is the household type used for the national reference estimate.

For Avellino residents, the practical takeaway is limited but clear: on current wholesale-price expectations, the province enters the autumn with the highest projected energy bill in Campania, and the year-on-year increase is close to four-tenths. Whether that projection holds will depend on wholesale markets, household consumption, and the terms of each supply contract.
