After a quarter of a century away, the Giro di Campania returns on Sunday, 20 September 2026. The 64th edition marks the revival of a race first held in 1911 and last run in 2001.
The return has earned the nickname "Corsa delle meraviglie," the Race of Wonders, reflecting an event presented not only as a sporting competition but also as a vehicle for territorial promotion and cultural tourism in Campania.
Start, finish and distance
The race starts at the Reggia di Caserta and finishes in Piazza del Plebiscito in Naples.
The 64th edition covers 193.1 km through all five provinces of Campania. The route includes Benevento and the Sannio, Avellino and Irpinia, Salerno, the Amalfi Coast, Agerola, the Vesuvian coast, and Naples.
The event is classified UCI 1.1 and is included in the Coppa Italia delle Regioni. Support for the relaunch comes from the Campania regional sports authorities, as confirmed by the Lega Ciclismo Professionistico.
The route across Campania
One of the distinctive features of this edition is its scope: all five Campania provinces are included in a single day of racing.
From the departure at the Reggia di Caserta, the course travels through the interior areas of Benevento and the Sannio and Avellino and Irpinia, then continues toward Salerno. From there it reaches the Amalfi Coast and Agerola before returning toward the Vesuvian coast and the finish in Naples.
The Agerola climb
The main climb identified in the official presentation is Agerola: 14 km at an average gradient of 6%, with the summit approximately 47 km from the finish.
A historic race
The Giro di Campania has a history dating to 1911. Its previous edition, in 2001, was won by Dmitrij Konyšev at the Reggia di Caserta.
The 2026 edition therefore reconnects a historic name with the same landmark: the Reggia di Caserta, departure point this year and arrival point of the last race before the long interruption.

The event is scheduled for broadcast from 13:30 on Rai Sport, HBO/Discovery platforms, and the Lega Ciclismo Professionistico YouTube channel.
Broadcast availability and scheduling may change before race day. The confirmed starter list and final team roster were not fully available in the pre-race reports, and results will only be established on race day.
