A new community greening project for the Telesina Valley will plant trees and redevelop public spaces in Telese Terme and Castelvenere, with the aim of making them greener, more shaded and more livable.
The initiative, called "Verde Comune – Rotary per la Valle Telesina," is promoted by the Rotary Club Valle Telesina. Organizers present it as a local response to global climate change.
The project was scheduled for public presentation on 1 October 2026 at 11:00 in the council chamber of the Rocca dei Rettori in Benevento.
The effort brings together municipal administrations, professional associations, schools, a parish, civic associations and the wider local community. Organizers report more than 30 honorary supporters, including the Province of Benevento, the municipalities of Telese Terme and Castelvenere, three schools, four professional orders, a trade association, the Santo Stefano parish and local associations.
Technical and scientific support is attributed to professional bodies representing architects and planners, agronomists and foresters, and geologists.
Organizers describe the project as potentially replicable elsewhere and underline its significance following recent fires that have affected the Sannio area.
Details still to be confirmed include the number, species and exact locations of the trees, as well as the budget, funding sources, implementation timetable, maintenance arrangements and any measurable targets for shade, biodiversity or public-space use.
