A large fire broke out on the morning of 29 September 2026 along the coastal strip near Campolongo, in the municipality of Eboli.
According to Il Mattino Salerno, the alarm was received at approximately 10:30. Fire crews from the central station and the Eboli detachment were sent to the scene to tackle the flames.
A "Drago" helicopter based in Pontecagnano was also mobilized to support the ground teams in the firefighting effort.
When the report was published, suppression and site-safety operations were still underway. Authorities had not yet established the cause of the fire or what caused it to spread.
