Carabinieri have uncovered an apartment in San Giorgio being used as a clandestine showroom for clothing of uncertain provenance, reporting a 55-year-old local man at liberty.

According to the local report from Metropolisweb, the apartment was used to store and sell garments, including branded items. The stock seized by investigators included catalogued garments with labels, such as cashmere sweaters, sports jackets and trousers.

Investigators described two sales channels for the goods: direct sales to local customers and listings on social networks and specialised online portals.

During the check, the 55-year-old occupant was unable to provide receipts, transport documents or invoices proving the legal origin of the merchandise.

The man was reported at liberty on suspicion of receiving stolen goods and of introducing and trading products bearing counterfeit marks. The clothing, valued at several thousand euros, was seized pending technical checks to confirm the alleged counterfeiting.

The exact number of garments seized, the brands allegedly involved and the precise address of the apartment were not disclosed, and no independent corroborating report was available. The technical analysis was still pending at the time of the original report.
