The family of Greta Astarita has issued an official statement asking journalists and media outlets to respect its grief, silence and privacy following the deaths of Astarita and her unborn son at San Leonardo Hospital in Castellammare di Stabia.

The statement was released through the family's lawyer, Ivan Giannino.

Astarita was 33 years old, lived in Piano di Sorrento and was already the mother of another child. She died while seven months pregnant.

A request for silence and respect

In the statement, the family asks journalists and media organisations not to seek interviews or comments, and to avoid speculation, pressure around private homes and reliance on unauthorised spokespeople.

The family says it wishes to protect the memory of Astarita and her child and to grieve privately.

Trust in the institutions

The family says it trusts the magistracy and law-enforcement authorities to establish the truth and justice through institutional proceedings.

No medical cause of death has been established in the available sources, and no finding of negligence or criminal responsibility has been documented. The status and findings of any investigation or further legal proceedings remain unclear.

The family's request means further personal details should not be pursued or presented as confirmed without official documentation.
