A parked work van was deliberately set on fire on Via Carrara in Pompei on Sunday afternoon, at around 1:30 p.m.
According to Metropolis Web, surveillance footage shows a man approaching the commercial vehicle, parked near a local depot, carrying a plastic container. The footage reportedly shows him pouring a flammable liquid over the van and its tires and then igniting it.
The suspect left the scene quickly after starting the fire. The flames were extinguished before they could spread to the adjacent depot, limiting the reported damage to the commercial vehicle.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and vehicle-plate-reading camera data while considering the motive and possible lines of inquiry. No suspect has been identified in the reporting, and the motive remains unknown.
