Passenger service between Avellino and Benevento is no longer expected in early 2027. The new target window is spring–summer 2027, according to Campania regional vice president Mario Casillo.

The delay is linked to unfinished infrastructure needed to continue electrification toward Benevento. The work is not yet complete, making the earlier start date unrealistic.

In the meantime, the Campania Region has discussed with RFI and Trenitalia the possibility of running at least one train between Avellino and Benevento before full service begins. No final response from the railway operators has been reported.

Separately, AIR Campania and the Region have tested digital information displays powered by batteries and photovoltaic panels. The pilot phase has been completed, and the final project has been sent to the Managing Authority.

The plan covers around 500 stops in the provinces of Avellino and Caserta, with real-time schedule information for passengers. Before the tender can begin, the protocol number and the signing of the agreement are still required.

No firm dates have been given for the agreement, the tender, or the installation of the first stops.
