Avellino's twice-weekly market is set to return from Campo Genova to its historic home at Piazzale degli Irpini under a 12-month experimental arrangement.

The municipal Giunta approved the move unanimously, according to local reporting by IrpiniaNews. The stated objectives are to improve safety, accessibility and the overall functionality of the market area for vendors and shoppers.

The decision followed input from trade associations representing market operators.

To support the return, the municipality has allocated up to 40,000 euros for improvement works at Piazzale degli Irpini, including restoring water points serving food-market stalls.

What is not yet confirmed is when the relocation will take effect. No effective date or detailed timetable was specified in the reporting, and no stall plan, traffic measures or pedestrian arrangements have been published. The market's permanent location after the 12-month trial also remains undecided.
