On 29 October 2026, the mayors of Lauro and Taurano met representatives of Poste Italiane at the Prefecture of Avellino to discuss reported problems with correspondence delivery in the two municipalities.
The meeting was requested by the two mayors after residents reported delivery difficulties. According to the Prefecture and local press reports, Poste Italiane pointed to staff turnover and difficulties in correctly identifying addresses, recipients and mailboxes as factors affecting delivery.
The parties agreed on a practical follow-up. The municipalities of Lauro and Taurano will collect residents' reports of service problems and forward them to Poste Italiane. Poste Italiane said it would identify the most affected areas so that targeted checks and interventions can be carried out.
A joint communication to residents was also proposed, asking them to make civic numbers, names and mailboxes clearly identifiable in order to help delivery staff locate recipients.
The institutions agreed to maintain coordination and monitor whether the measures improve the service.
What has not yet been made public is how widespread the delivery failures are, how long they have lasted, or when the targeted checks will take place. The available reports do not independently verify individual complaints, and there is no confirmation yet that delivery has improved.
