Carabinieri conducting environmental checks in Montefredane reported the seizure of an approximately 5,000-square-metre area belonging to a company active in waste collection and disposal. The operation was reported on 24 September 2026.
According to the accounts published by IrpiniaNews and LabTV, investigators found approximately 15,000 cubic metres of hazardous and non-hazardous special waste across the site.
The waste was described as including used oils, ferrous materials and plastics. It was allegedly stored without classification, both in containers and directly on the ground, in bulk.
The site was described as environmentally protected because it stands adjacent to a watercourse. The reports do not give the exact location of the site or the name of the watercourse.
The company's local 35-year-old owner was reported to prosecutors in a state of liberty for alleged unlawful management of hazardous and non-hazardous special waste in a protected area. Neither the company nor the owner was identified by name in the reports available.
The entire area was placed under seizure.
