A major fire that affected the Taburno-Camposauro massif between 22 and 23 September is set to be raised in the Campania regional council.
Regional councillor Fernando Errico has announced that he will bring the issue forward during the Question Time session on 21 October, calling for intervention against hydrogeological risk and support for farmers.
The reported affected areas include parts of Bonea and Bucciano in the Valle Caudina and Foglianise and Vitulano in the Valle Vitulanese.
What Errico is requesting
Errico has called for water-management works, slope stabilisation, reforestation, dedicated funding, and economic support for affected agricultural businesses.
The requests respond to concern that the loss of vegetation could increase the risk of runoff, debris movement, rockfalls, landslides and mudslides, particularly around Foglianise.
What is not yet confirmed
The report does not provide an independently verified estimate of the burned area or the total economic damage.
No funding amount, implementation timetable, or formal regional government decision has been confirmed. The hydrogeological dangers described are projected risks following the fire, not confirmed landslides or damage that have already occurred.
