Campania's regional administration has identified €13 million to support agricultural businesses facing higher fuel costs, following meetings with organizations representing the sector.

According to the regional Agriculture Department and a report by NTR24, officials met with agricultural-sector organizations including Coldiretti, Confagricoltura, CIA, Copagri, Altragricoltura and CNA Campania Nord.

The €13 million would come from unspent resources in the current programming period. Both the regional announcement and the NTR24 report present the sum as identified funding rather than money already available to applicants.

European approval still required

Distribution of the regional support requires authorization from the European Commission. That authorization had not yet been granted in the material reviewed, so no payments can follow until the approval step is completed.

The announcement does not specify the final application procedure, timetable or individual payment amounts. Eligibility criteria are also not fully detailed; the NTR24 report says the relief is intended for businesses registered in the UMA system.

The administration said it is also examining possible additional resources, including funds under the PR FESR.

Broader issues discussed

The meetings were not limited to fuel costs. The supported facts say participants also addressed broader structural issues affecting agriculture, including investment, productivity, producer remuneration and fair prices along the supply chain.

No decisions on those longer-term issues were specified in the research reviewed.

Separate national fuel measure

Separately, a 2026 national measure provides agricultural businesses with a potential tax credit of up to 20% for eligible fuel purchases made from March through May 2026, according to AGEA instructions.

The research does not establish whether businesses could receive both the regional relief and the national tax credit. Readers should therefore treat them as two distinct measures for now: a proposed Campania payment still awaiting European approval, and a separate national tax-credit framework with its own eligibility period.

For businesses following this process, the practical points to watch are whether the European Commission authorizes the Campania measure, what application rules Campania publishes next, and whether further PR FESR resources are added.
