The Gran Cono of Vesuvius and guided visits to the crater will be temporarily suspended on Sunday 25 October 2026, indicatively from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., for the Cicloscalata del Vesuvio 2026.
The Vesuvius National Park announced the suspension in connection with the race, formally identified in the Park's official notice as the Cicloscalata del Vesuvio 2026 – Campionato Italiano FCI Città di Torre del Greco.
What will be suspended
During the indicated time window, access to the Gran Cono and the guided crater visits will not operate. The 12:00 p.m. reopening time is indicated as expected and may depend on when the event actually finishes.
Road closures to Quota 1000
Vehicle and pedestrian circulation will be suspended from 8:30 a.m. until the end of the event along the race route: via Vesuvio, Contrada Osservatorio and via Osservatorio, up to the Piazzale di Quota 1000.
That means the access route to the Quota 1000 turnstiles will not be passable during the morning closure, even for visitors with early time slots.
What ticket holders need to know
Holders of tickets for earlier time slots will be able to access the Quota 1000 turnstiles after transit resumes, expected at 12:00 p.m.
The Park also provides for the possibility of requesting a ticket refund under the current regulations. The operational procedures and deadlines for refunds were not detailed in the sources consulted.
