Lorenza Maiatico, known locally as nonna Lola, celebrated her 100th birthday in Benevento on 24 October 2026, surrounded by her family.

Her daughters, six grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered for lunch on Via Tiengo, near the Arch of Trajan in Benevento's historic centre. Relatives travelled from different parts of Italy, making the reunion especially significant because the wider family had not gathered in this way for years.

According to local broadcaster NTR24, her birth is recorded as 27 October on official documents, while she and her family have always regarded 24 October 1926 as her true birthday.

The report traces her life through wartime bread queues, the death of her husband Antonio, and the effort of raising her daughters Virginia and Antonietta. The family home near the Arch of Trajan is described as a central place in her life and memories.

Her six grandchildren are Antonio, Luca, Francesca, Mimmo, Chiara and Lorenzo. NTR24 also mentions several great-grandchildren, without giving a precise number.

The report says Mayor Mastella attended the celebration with a sash and parchment.
