Carabinieri from the Montoro station made two separate arrests in the same afternoon, one involving a final prison order and the other involving a suspected forged identity document.

The first arrest concerned a 48-year-old Montoro resident already known to law enforcement. He was taken to the Casa Circondariale di Avellino to serve a remaining five-year prison sentence. According to the local reports, the sentence relates to money laundering committed in Montoro before 2014 and receiving stolen goods dating to 2020.

The second arrest involved a 57-year-old worker, detained on suspicion of possessing and manufacturing false identity documents. The man had presented himself at the Montoro Carabinieri station as a person with information relevant to an investigation. During identification checks, officers found that the microchip had been mechanically removed from the electronic identity card, or Carta d'Identità Elettronica, he presented.

The 57-year-old was placed under house arrest pending a fast-track hearing, known in Italy as a rito direttissimo.

The names of the two men were not reported in the sources consulted. No further update on the hearing or on any subsequent judicial decisions was available, and the accounts remain journalistic reconstructions without a separate official statement from prosecutors or the Carabinieri included in the reporting.
