A 65-year-old gelato shop owner was injured in Sorrento on 21 October 2026 after a glass pane fell from an apparently unoccupied apartment while he was outside his business on Corso Italia.
According to the local report from Metropolis Web, the glass fell from the second floor of the building and struck the man. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged with a prognosis of 15 days.
Carabinieri from the Sorrento company attended the scene, along with staff from the municipal technical office.
What remains unclear
The circumstances of the fall and any responsibility remained to be established at the time of reporting. The report does not identify the building or the gelateria by name, nor does it establish the precise cause of the glass detachment.
It is also not confirmed whether the building had been formally declared unsafe or whether preventive measures were subsequently ordered.
