Three people have received precautionary residence restrictions in connection with an alleged smuggling operation involving foreign-manufactured tobacco products, according to a report by Metropolis Web.

The measures were ordered by a judge of the Nocera Inferiore court, following a request from the Nocera Inferiore prosecutor's office. The suspects have not been publicly identified.

Investigators allege that the group operated a storage and distribution network supplied from Naples, with links to destinations including the Foggia area. The main alleged market for the contraband cigarettes was the Naples area, where they were reportedly intended for retail sale outside the legal market.

Around 240 kilograms of cigarettes were allegedly seized from a storage unit in Scafati. In total, investigators seized approximately 500 kilograms of contraband cigarettes during the investigation.

The proceedings are at an early stage. The precautionary order can be challenged, and the allegations do not establish criminal responsibility.
