Safety works began in Piazza Spartaco, in the centre of Castellammare di Stabia, on 16 October 2026.

According to local press reporting, the intervention follows the opening of a deep cavity in the roadway after heavy rainfall. Residents and local businesses had waited about sixty days for work to start.

Traffic impact

The roadworks were causing slowdowns in the city centre, particularly for buses heading towards Via Roma.

What the works aim to do

The stated objective is to secure the road surface and assess the stability of the ground underneath, in order to reduce the risk of further collapses during bad weather.

The project cost, contractor, timetable and expected completion date have not been reported.
