A 71-year-old man who had returned to Forino for a short stay has died at the Moscati Hospital in Avellino, prompting an inquiry by the Avellino Prosecutor's Office.

According to IrpiniaNews, the man resided in the province of Milan and had come back to Forino briefly. He first attended Moscati Hospital on Friday and was discharged that evening. He died at the same hospital on Sunday morning.

The investigation is being carried out by the Carabinieri of Forino Station and the Baiano Company, under the direction of the Avellino Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutor Ginevra Guacci was expected to appoint a medico-legal consultant to examine the body.

Investigators are examining whether an alleged assault connected to a dispute over a plot of land was linked to the subsequent worsening of the man's health and his death. The report states that relatives of the deceased filed a complaint and that there may be entries in the register of suspects.

What has not been established remains central: the man's identity was not reported, the exact circumstances of the alleged assault remain unresolved, and no causal link between the alleged assault and the death had been established at the time of reporting. The identities or legal status of any suspects, and the outcome of the medico-legal examination, were also not available.
