Avellino will hold a two-day Civil Protection initiative, "Avellino Si-Cura," on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 October 2026. The programme combines operational exercises, training and public-information activities focused especially on earthquake preparedness.
The event is presented as a way to test the municipal emergency-response system, explain the Civil Protection Plan and raise public awareness of local risks.
Monday: earthquake simulation at the Civil Protection base
Monday's programme is based at the municipal Civil Protection facility on Via Generale Giovanni Rotondi and includes a high-intensity earthquake simulation.
According to the published programme, the simulation is intended to test emergency coordination, designated waiting, reception and responder-assembly areas, assistance for displaced people including vulnerable residents, structural-damage surveys, radio communications and territorial monitoring.
Tuesday: public activities at Piazza Macello
Tuesday's public-facing activities are planned at Piazza Macello, where a Civil Protection village or field base will be set up.
The Piazza Macello event is described as open to residents and involving emergency services, the Fire Brigade, the Army, ASL Avellino, ARPAC and volunteer organisations.
Schools and volunteers included
Schools are included through earthquake-risk lessons and participation in the public demonstrations.
The Avellino programme also includes outreach to schools and a practical course for administrators and volunteers, alongside operational and public activities at the Piazza Macello base.
Part of a wider Campania programme
The Avellino event forms part of a wider Campania Civil Protection programme running from 8 to 19 October 2026.
The regional Civil Protection portal presents the wider initiatives as addressed to citizens, schools, institutions, volunteers and operational structures, and links the programme to the 2026 national Civil Protection Week.
The published sources describe planned activities announced before the 12-13 October dates; completion of the activities and any changes to the programme are not independently verified.
