Fratelli d'Italia provincial president Ines Fruncillo and city coordinator Modestino Maria Iandoli met Avellino Mayor Nello Pizza at Palazzo di Città to discuss the city's problems and development prospects for the wider province.
According to local press accounts of the meeting, Fruncillo argued that Avellino should recover its role as a coordinating centre and institutional point of reference for Irpinia. The Fratelli d'Italia position was summed up in the statement: "Il capoluogo torni a essere guida dell'Irpinia, basta amministrare il bisogno" — that the capital should stop merely managing needs and return to guiding the territory.
Fruncillo also criticised the Campania regional Documento di Economia e Finanza Regionale for 2027–2029, arguing that it did not give Avellino and Irpinia sufficiently clear structural-investment priorities.
The discussion covered the Valle Ufita logistics platform, reported as involving 130 million euros, and delays affecting the Lioni-Grottaminarda road. Other subjects raised included integrated water management and the role of Alto Calore, public transport, social housing, urban redevelopment, the Avellino-Salerno railway, the Partenio-Lombardi stadium and the difficulties facing local retail.
Mayor Pizza was reported as open to institutional cooperation on both city priorities and initiatives concerning the province. The available reports describe political positions expressed at the meeting, not formally agreed funding, infrastructure or governance decisions.
