Thirty-one students from the Liceo Scientifico Statale "Pasquale Stanislao Mancini" in Avellino have reimagined the spaces around their school, with two proposals — "La Foglia" and "Libri in campo" — selected as the winning designs.
The work was developed through "La scuola e la città. Spazi in dialogo", a project carried out with the Ordine degli Architetti PPC della Provincia di Avellino as part of the eighth edition of "Abitare il Paese – La cultura della domanda".
Held between December 2025 and June 2026, the program involved first- and second-year students working alongside teachers and architect tutors. The students examined the relationship between the high school and the surrounding urban fabric, focusing on two areas: the parking area and the sports field area.
The goal was to turn these outdoor spaces into places for gathering, studying, culture, sport, and recreation, open to the wider community as well as the school.
The process included site visits, surveys, lessons, workshops, preliminary sketches, floor plans, material studies, and three-dimensional models. "La Foglia" and "Libri in campo" were selected as the winning proposals for the two intervention areas.
The projects were scheduled to be presented in Rome at the Casa dell'Aviatore on 13 November 2026, during the final review of "Abitare il Paese".
