A meeting on road traffic and circulation safety in the municipality of Montoro was held at the Prefettura, jointly requested by the Mayor and the Local Police.
Representatives of the Questura, the Carabinieri, the Traffic Police (Polizia Stradale), the Province of Avellino and the Local Police took part in the discussion, which examined the recent rise in road accidents and possible measures to improve safety.
According to figures recorded by the Local Police, 60 accidents have been registered since January 2026, compared with 56 recorded in 2025.
Attention focused on provincial roads SP 90, SP 145, SP 5 and SP 162, as well as the junctions with the motorway link, identified as the main stretches under review.
The Province of Avellino will carry out further on-site inspections to identify technical solutions compatible with the Italian Highway Code. Measures under consideration include rumble strips, illuminated warning panels and targeted extraordinary interventions adapted to individual road sections.
The Municipality of Montoro will continue awareness activities aimed at residents and schools on correct driving behaviour.
