Carabinieri from the Mirabella Eclano Company have discovered and dismantled a cannabis plantation in the Poppano area of San Mango sul Calore, in the province of Avellino, according to a report by IrpiniaNews.
According to the report, officers arrested one suspect and detained a second man described as the alleged planner of the operation. Both men are described as having travelled from Somma Vesuviana, in the Naples area.
Investigators also searched an abandoned rural house in Chiusano San Domenico, where more than 17 kilograms of marijuana leaves were allegedly found drying, the report states.
IrpiniaNews estimates the potential value of the alleged operation at approximately 400,000 euros.
The report places the case in the context of earlier investigations in Irpinia, including a September 2022 operation involving a cannabis plantation in the Montemiletto area.
The suspects have not been named in the material provided, which also does not give the precise number of plants allegedly removed. The allegations remain subject to judicial review, and no independent official police or prosecutorial document was available to corroborate the reported quantities, valuation, or procedural details.
