A morning attempted burglary in Nocera Inferiore turned violent on 25 September 2026, when a man caught forcing an apartment door allegedly attacked the homeowners before being arrested.
According to Il Mattino, the incident took place in a newly built condominium on via Astuti. A married couple returned to their property and discovered a man attempting to force the entrance door of the apartment.
The man allegedly reacted to being discovered by striking the husband with a screwdriver, causing several wounds to the abdomen, and spraying both spouses with pepper spray.
Municipal police intervened shortly after the alarm was raised and arrested the suspect shortly afterward. Officers reportedly recovered burglary tools, the screwdriver allegedly used in the attack, and pepper spray.
Il Mattino identifies the suspect as a 42-year-old Ukrainian national with prior convictions. He was transferred to Fuorni prison in Salerno.
