Sarno gathered on 25 September 2026 for a candlelight procession in memory of Giuseppe Marchese, the 19-year-old who died after suffering critical injuries in a road accident in September 2025.
The event was organized by the Parish of San Teodoro as a memorial and moment of community gathering.
According to Il Mattino, the procession was scheduled to begin at 19:45 from the Church of San Teodoro in Via Abignente. From there, participants were to walk through Via Abignente, Via Sarno-Palma and Via Lanzetta, ending at the mural dedicated to Giuseppe near the Felice Squitieri stadium.
The evening was presented in connection with a reported call for justice for Giuseppe, described by the headline theme as "We want justice."
Marchese had been seriously injured in the Sarno crash and was treated at hospitals in Sarno and Salerno before dying at Ruggi d'Aragona Hospital in Salerno.
