A hillside fire broke out close to Cetara's built-up area, on the slope above the SS163 Amalfitana, and moved close enough to threaten nearby homes.
According to the reports, the flames approached houses in the Valle area. LiraTV reported that around a dozen homes were near the fire, while ANSA described a large fire that came close to homes before being contained.
Aerial firefighting resources were deployed to support ground crews. ANSA reported that two helicopters and a Canadair worked to contain the fire, and LiraTV also reported the involvement of firefighters, civil protection personnel, a helicopter and a Canadair.
The fire was highly visible from the town. LiraTV reported that the fire front could be seen from Cetara's beach, with operations continuing into the afternoon.
