Two people living in Salerno have been arrested by the Guardia di Finanza of Bolzano in an investigation into so-called "fake carabiniere" scams. Five other people are under investigation, including a woman living in Bolzano.

The total amount under investigation is €150,000. According to the reported reconstruction, victims were contacted by people posing as carabinieri or bank officials who claimed there were irregularities on their accounts. The victims were then persuaded to transfer their savings to accounts presented as safe.

Investigators reportedly traced bank accounts registered to front men and the alleged use of cloned digital identities to obtain loans. Of the €150,000 involved, authorities recovered €70,000.

The operation also resulted in a preventive seizure order aimed at confiscating the suspected illicit profits.

Bolzano prosecutor Axel Bisignano urged citizens not to trust phone calls or messages in which banks or law enforcement request banking details or money transfers.

The names of the two arrested people and their detailed procedural status have not been reported in the sources consulted. The number of victims, where all the scams took place, and how much of the recovered money has been returned have also not been specified. The alleged cloning of digital identities and use of loans remain investigative hypotheses, not finally established facts.
