Police in Nocera Inferiore intervened after a young man reported being held against his will inside an apartment.

According to Il Mattino, the victim, described as a young foreign man, was allegedly tied to a chair with adhesive tape and threatened with a knife. A corroborating report states the person was also beaten before officers from the Nocera Inferiore station freed him.

Two people were arrested in connection with the episode: a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, according to Il Mattino.

The arrests followed resistance during the police intervention, during which two officers suffered injuries.

Police seized mobile phones, two knives and a roll of adhesive tape from the apartment.

Investigators were still examining the alleged demand for money and the possible involvement of other people. The reports contain competing accounts: the defendants reportedly described the incident as a joke, while the victim gave a contrary account.

The arrests were validated and custody in prison ordered, but the reports do not establish final criminal responsibility.
