Said Osseili, 25, was killed by a gunshot to the head outside his home in Capaccio Paestum on the evening of November 5. His body was found at around 10 p.m. in front of the gate of his house in Via Barizzo, in the Foce Sele area.
According to early reconstructions reported by Il Mattino, RaiNews, and ANSA, the killing came at the end of a violent argument with a fellow Moroccan national, who then fled on foot. The main suspect is a 36-year-old fellow countryman already known to law enforcement. He is currently untraceable.
Osseili, described as having no criminal record, reportedly worked as a farm laborer in the surrounding countryside.
The investigation is being carried out by the Carabinieri of the Capaccio Scalo station and the Radiomobile unit of the Agropoli company. Investigators have interviewed family members, acquaintances, and neighbors. The public prosecutor's office has ordered forensic examinations, and the body has been transferred to the morgue of the hospital in Eboli.
No motive has been established. Investigators are reported to be considering several possibilities, including a settling of scores, a personal revenge, or disputes connected to the victim's circle of acquaintances. The exact sequence of the argument also remains unclear, including whether shots were exchanged.
One point remains unresolved in the published accounts: reports differ on the ballistic evidence. Some accounts state that no shell casings or weapon were found at the scene, while ANSA and a second Il Mattino report state that three shell casings and a pistol were recovered and are being examined for their role in the shooting. The outcome of the autopsy and further forensic checks was not yet available.
The suspect has been described in the sources without publication of his name, and his legal status may change as the search and investigation continue.
