An approximately 70-year-old man died after falling from the first floor of an elderly-care residence in San Marzano sul Sarno, in the province of Salerno.
According to Il Mattino, the victim was a resident originally from Pagani. He fell from the first floor onto the asphalt below and sustained multiple fractures, head trauma, and injuries to internal organs.
Emergency responders from 118 transported him to the emergency department of the hospital in Nocera Inferiore. He arrived in critical condition and died a few hours later.
Carabinieri intervened to reconstruct what happened, collecting witness statements and other evidence. At the time of the report, investigators had not established whether the fall was accidental or a voluntary act.
