A 57-year-old worker died in a workplace accident at the Cernicchiara quarry in Salerno, according to Il Mattino.
The worker was reportedly struck by the forklift he had been operating. The vehicle reportedly overturned, although the exact sequence of events remains unclear.
Colleagues raised the alarm after the incident. Emergency medical responders from 118 arrived at the site but found the worker already deceased.
Units of the State Police and the duty magistrate attended the quarry to carry out inspections and investigate the circumstances. The outcome of the investigation is not yet known.
