A routine response to a road collision in Somma Vesuviana led Carabinieri to arrest a 45-year-old Army warrant officer after three Molotov-type bottles were found in his car.
The incident occurred on via San Sossio following a collision involving a Toyota and a Fiat Panda. Carabinieri from the local station and the Castello di Cisterna operational section intervened, while local police handled the assessment of the collision.
During the checks, officers found three Molotov-type bottles inside the Army officer's vehicle. One bottle had broken in the impact, another was partially emptied, and the third was described as ready for use.
Bomb-disposal specialists from the Naples Provincial Command were called to the scene, and the area was secured.
The 45-year-old man was taken to the hospital in Nola for injuries sustained in the collision and was later discharged with a ten-day prognosis. He was arrested for unlawful possession of explosive material and transferred to Poggioreale prison.
The couple travelling in the other vehicle was reported as unrelated to the matter and in good condition.
The cause and circumstances of the collision remained under investigation, and the report did not establish why the bottles were in the vehicle.
