Paid parking in Torre del Greco is being extended to five more areas from 16 October, bringing pay-and-display bays to peripheral streets that had remained temporarily uncovered.
The new paid-parking zones are Via Alcide De Gasperi, Via Nazionale, San Gennariello, Via De Curtis and Via Purgatorio, according to the report in Il Mattino.
Where the blue lines are arriving
The extension moves paid parking beyond the central network and into outer areas, including Via De Gasperi and Via Nazionale. The report describes these as peripheral zones left temporarily without enforcement while the operator, Pubbliservizi, completed installation and approval of the parking meters.
Two waterfront areas remain outside paid parking in the period described: Via Litoranea and Via Crescenzo Mazza, which are affected by works on the seafront.
The exact number of bays being activated in each of the five new zones is not specified in the available sources.
Hours and rates
The reported operating hours are Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays:
- 8:00–13:00 and 15:00–20:00, from 22 September to 20 May
- 8:00–13:00 and 16:00–21:00, from 21 May to 21 September
The reported hourly rate is 1 euro per hour, with a minimum payment of 50 cents. A later municipal notice confirms the same basic tariff: 1 euro per hour and 50 cents for 30 minutes.
Monthly subscriptions are reported at 80 euros for a single street and 100 euros for the whole municipal area.
How to pay
Payment is expected through parking meters, including electronic and contactless payment, or through affiliated mobile parking apps.
For drivers, the practical points are straightforward: check whether the bay is marked for paid parking, check the seasonal time band in force, and keep the minimum 50-cent charge in mind for short stops. Regular parkers on one street may find the single-street subscription relevant, while those who move around Torre del Greco may need to compare it with the town-wide subscription.
Part of a longer expansion along Via Nazionale
The latest increase along Via Nazionale follows an expansion already documented in 2022, when 345 paid bays were reported on Via Nazionale, with 17 additional bays planned near Via Ponte della Gatta, for an indicated total of 362.
Councillor Antonio Crispino links the wider expansion to the stabilization of fifteen workers and to constraints in the service contract. That employment claim has not been independently verified in a separate source, and the full text of the municipal police order for the 16 October extension was not available in the research.
