Ruslan Matvieiev, a 24-year-old man from Qualiano, died after falling from the third floor of a psychiatric rehabilitation facility in Monterusciello, according to reports by Il Mattino.

The fall was reported on the afternoon of Tuesday 13 October, at around 16:00, at the I.FL.HAN. psychiatric rehabilitation centre. The body was transferred for an autopsy.

The Prosecutor's Office and the Carabinieri are working to reconstruct the circumstances. Investigators reportedly considered a voluntary act as one hypothesis, but the available reports do not establish the final cause or responsibility.

Ruslan's mother and her legal representatives have questioned whether he was adequately supervised and assisted. According to the reports, the family described Ruslan as needing continuous assistance and asked where the dedicated operators were at the time of the fall.

The mother also pointed to what she described as an unexplained gap between Ruslan's last known presence at lunch and the discovery of the fall, and questioned the surveillance and assistance provided by the facility. An association representing people with disabilities also called for clarification of the assistance and surveillance arrangements.

What remains unresolved:

  • The autopsy findings and the final investigative conclusion have not been reported.
  • The mother's allegations about inadequate supervision, surveillance and timing remain claims under investigation, not established facts.
  • The precise sequence of events before the fall, including whether surveillance footage exists, remains unclear.

The spelling of the first name varies in the reports, with both "Ruslan" and "Roslan" used. This article uses "Ruslan," as it appears in the primary report's title and in the longer account.
