Casoria mayor Raffaele Bene announced the closure of all schools of every level, public parks and municipal villas for Saturday 10 October, following the extension of the Campania regional orange weather alert.

The decision came after heavy rain hit the town, with reported rainfall above 50 millimetres. Local impacts included flooded streets, potholes and road subsidence, including in the historic centre and Via Santa Croce.

The wider Naples metropolitan area also reported flooding, landslides, fallen trees and power interruptions during the severe weather.

The alert was reported as remaining in force until 15:00 on Saturday 10 October, with possible showers or thunderstorms and locally intense rainfall.
