A large fire broke out on Friday, 18 September 2026, in via Antica Trecase in Torre del Greco, inside the Vesuvius National Park.
The fire burned approximately 5,000 square metres of weeds and rubbish and threatened nearby homes. Firefighters and volunteers intervened to prevent the flames from reaching the houses.
The response involved firefighters, volunteers, Torre Vesuvio, SMA Campania and Primaurora. Firefighting operations continued for several hours, with reclamation operations beginning at approximately 16:00.
The cause of the fire has not been established. The final affected area and the completion status of the reclamation were not reported.
