A 22-year-old detainee who failed to return to prison after a temporary leave was found hiding in a wardrobe in Naples and taken back into custody.

Alessio Esposito, 22, was being held at the prison in Bellizzi Irpino and had been granted a leave permit to attend his daughter's baptism. He did not return on September 16 and could no longer be traced.

Carabinieri from the operations section in Giugliano in Campania later located him at his mother's home in Piazza Mercato. According to the report, officers entered through the balcony after no one answered the door and found the 22-year-old hidden inside a wardrobe.

Following his arrest, Esposito was transferred to Poggioreale prison, where he is to serve a sentence of 3 months and 2 days.
