Cleaning staff found two homemade explosive devices concealed in the perimeter gate of a nautical and professional institute on Via di Pozzuoli in the Bagnoli area of Naples.
Carabinieri from the Bagnoli company responded to the report. According to Il Mattino, the devices consisted of groups of three and four "kobra" firecrackers bound together with insulating tape.
The bomb-disposal unit of the Naples provincial command seized the devices, and the area was reported as cleared.
The school directory identifies the institute as "Itn-Duca Degli Abruzzi-Via Bagnoli -Na-", a public nautical technical institute at Via Di Pozzuoli 5, 80124 Napoli.
Despite the original headline referring to an evacuation, the body of the report states that the institute was not evacuated.
The report does not identify who placed the devices or a motive, and investigations were described as ongoing with no suspects identified.
