Lucas Davila, a 34-year-old Argentine resident in Spain, traveled to Naples by motorcycle as part of a journey to explore his Italian family roots. His trip was interrupted when his motorcycle was stolen overnight.

The motorcycle, described as a grey Yamaha MT-09, was taken from via Gesù e Maria, near Piazza Dante, after Davila had stayed in the Cavone area. The wheel locks had been forced.

Davila said he had planned to visit Savoia di Lucania, where his grandmother was born, before continuing to Sicily. The incident left him temporarily unable to continue his journey after the theft.

He reported the theft to law enforcement and appealed on social media for help finding the motorcycle.

Davila later said someone claimed to possess the motorcycle and demanded €1,000 for its return. He said the photograph supplied as proof was false and said the contact appeared to be a trap.

The source article does not provide the identity of the thief or the person who demanded the money, details about the status of the investigation, or whether the motorcycle was subsequently recovered.
