A 23-year-old man from Villaricca was arrested on the day he was reportedly due to marry his partner, after Carabinieri found about 70 grams of suspected narcotics.
According to Il Mattino, Carmine Barretta, born in 2003 and resident in Villaricca, was arrested in flagrante delicto in Quarto by the Carabinieri of the Pozzuoli Operational Unit. Officers found suspected narcotic substance already divided into portions, which investigators assessed as intended for dealing.
Following the arrest, Barretta was placed under house arrest pending a hearing before the Naples court on validation of the arrest and any precautionary measure.
The report also states that he had previously been stopped in July by the Giugliano Carabinieri with more than 200 grams of suspected narcotics, in a case in which he was reported while remaining free.
The type of substance allegedly seized in Quarto was not identified in the report, and the outcome of the validation hearing has not been reported. The allegations remain subject to judicial review.
