Thursday, October 8 is expected to bring unsettled weather to much of Campania, with alternating clouds, sunny spells, showers and possible thunderstorms.
A low-pressure area is forecast to affect the region between Thursday and Friday, October 9, bringing locally heavy storms, strengthening winds and falling temperatures.
Naples: showers more likely in the afternoon and evening
In Naples, showers and bright spells are expected to alternate through the day, with rain more likely in the afternoon and evening.
Daytime highs in Naples are estimated at around 21–24°C, falling to around 21–22°C during the most disturbed phases. Southerly to south-westerly winds are expected to strengthen.
The sky is expected to remain very cloudy at times, consistent with the unstable pattern forecast across the coastal areas.
Inland areas and northern Campania most exposed
The inland areas, the Caserta area and the northern part of the region are among the zones most exposed to showers.
Forecasts differ on the exact distribution and intensity: some point to widespread or intense storms, others to more isolated rain initially concentrated in the northern sector. Readers in Caserta, Avellino, Benevento and the interior should therefore allow for sudden changes.
Temperatures: cooler inland
Minimum temperatures are reported at around 16°C in Avellino and Benevento, while on the coasts and plains they may remain between 20 and 22°C.
Maximum temperatures in Naples and Salerno are expected to ease, with intervals of showers and storms limiting daytime warming.
Wind and sea
Southerly to south-westerly winds are forecast to strengthen, especially during the heaviest showers.
The sea could become rough or very rough during the windiest phases, a point to keep in mind for ferry travel, coastal walks and seafront activities.
What to watch
Check the latest regional Civil Protection bulletin before travelling, as the operational alert status can change with forecast updates. Precipitation forecasts for individual Campania provinces are not fully consistent across the sources available, so allow extra time for journeys in the afternoon and evening, particularly in inland and northern areas.
