A violent robbery and kidnapping targeting a married couple has shaken Casapesenna, in the province of Caserta, prompting an urgent appeal for stronger security from the town's mayor.

According to Il Mattino Caserta, the couple was assaulted and briefly held by the gang during the robbery. Both victims were later hospitalized at the Pineta Grande clinic in Castel Volturno.

The husband, described as a local orthopedic doctor, was expected to undergo an MRI examination because doctors were concerned about possible internal bleeding caused by the assault.

Investigators are searching for four people believed to have taken part in the attack. The suspects were reportedly captured by surveillance cameras, and officers are reviewing footage as part of the investigation.

Mayor Giustina Zagaria said she contacted the victims and their families and sent an urgent request to the Prefecture, the Police Headquarters and other institutions, calling for a strengthened security response for the town.

At the time of the report, there had been no official communication from the Carabinieri about the investigation. No suspect identities, arrests or formal charges had been confirmed, and the victims' later medical condition had not been reported.
