Students from the IPSAR "Le Streghe" hospitality school in Benevento are moving from a one-day cleanup to long-term care of a city area, in partnership with Plastic Free and ASIA Benevento.
The initiative grew out of the fourth edition of the "Plogging delle Streghe" and is designed as a continuing collaboration rather than a single cleanup day. The school, Plastic Free and ASIA Benevento are finalizing an agreement to formalize the project.
The adopted area is a section of Via Grimoaldo Re, near the stairways leading down to the Calore river. Students will carry out periodic litter collection, monitoring, and environmental awareness activities there.
The project combines physical activity, environmental education, civic participation, and care for public spaces. The school's Department of Motor Sciences is involved, reflecting the link between sport and environmental action.
Plastic Free is participating through its provincial contact Mauro Cespa, while ASIA Benevento will provide materials and equipment on free loan for logistical support.
The inaugural meeting is scheduled for Monday, 28 September 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with the patronage of the City of Benevento.
The agreement was still being finalized at the time of reporting, and no measured results on collected waste or the long-term duration of the program have yet been documented.
