EAV is evaluating whether to add extra buses on the busiest Benevento–Naples replacement services, following complaints from commuters about overcrowding.
The response came after requests raised by Fernando Errico, who said the appeal followed reports from passengers and drew attention to the needs of students and workers who rely on the line daily.
According to the report, EAV said it was willing to assess deploying an additional bus — a "bis" service — on the most heavily used runs, based on monitoring of passenger flows. The measure remains under evaluation rather than a confirmed, permanent timetable change.
The issue gained attention after an incident reported in September at Benevento Appia, where more than 20 students were unable to board the 12:11 bus to Naples because it was already partly full. They had to wait for the 13:17 service.
That earlier report said about 90 percent of the passengers left waiting were students holding subscriptions purchased in August.
It is not yet clear when, where, or how many additional buses EAV might operate, and no confirmed timetable or implementation date has been announced. The September passenger figures were based on a report sent to the local outlet and have not been independently verified in the available material.
For now, commuters on the Benevento–Naples route will be watching whether flow monitoring leads to concrete reinforcement on peak services.
