The Municipality of San Giorgio La Molara has opened an internal search among its employees for a professional to direct the civic museum known as the "Museo de' la Terra."
The museum is housed in the town's historic former Dominican convent. The move follows Municipal Council resolution no. 25 of 23 June 2026, which approved the museum's new regulation and set out the procedure for appointing a director.
Under the plan described in the municipal notice, the appointment would last one year and could be renewed, as part of an experimental and transitional phase. The director would be responsible for the museum's scientific, cultural and organisational direction, without holding an executive-office qualification.
The role covers support for the museum's cultural, exhibition, educational and outreach programming, promotion of the area's material and immaterial heritage, and work on the conservation, cataloguing and documentation of the collections. The notice points to educational and professional backgrounds including culture, history, art, architecture, archaeology, demoethnoanthropology, cultural tourism, archival studies and librarianship.
Interested municipal employees were asked to submit an expression of interest by 23:59 on 20 September 2026, together with an updated CV and a short report on their skills and experience.
The Municipality stressed that the procedure is not a competition: no ranking will be drawn up, and the fact-finding exercise does not oblige it to make the appointment. An external public comparative procedure could follow only if no suitable internal professional is found.
