The Convitto Nazionale in Avellino opened the 2026–2027 school year on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, with a welcome day built around reassurance rather than first-day nerves. The guiding themes were simple: smile, optimism, and positivity.

The activities were aimed at new pupils and students entering the primary school, lower secondary school, Classical Lyceum, and European Classical Lyceum. Instead of formal ceremonies, the morning focused on sociality, music, and games designed to help newcomers settle in.

Teachers and students performed music together, including piano, saxophone, and drums, followed by the Convitto anthem. Rector and headteacher Attilio Lieto presented the year's slogan: “Insieme con il sorriso, la positività e l’ottimismo” — together with a smile, positivity, and optimism.

A central part of the program was “CONVITTO ON THE ROAD 2031,” an orientation activity that introduced students to the institution's history through dramatization, a puzzle, and the quiz “Glauco ti sfida!” The mascot Glauco accompanied the students through the event.

The 11 participating classes closed the day with a red-carpet procession, during which students received keyrings featuring the Glauco mascot. The school radio also recorded a podcast with participants in the welcome day.
