Benevento will allow residents to switch on winter heating early, from November 1 to November 14, 2026. According to NTR24, Mayor Clemente Mastella authorized the temporary, optional measure for the entire municipal territory.
The authorization covers winter climate systems powered by natural gas. Systems may operate for a maximum of five hours per day, between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m., with the hours spread across more than one interval if needed.
The measure retains the indoor temperature limits set by Presidential Decree 74/2013: 18°C, with a 2°C tolerance, for industrial, artisanal and similar buildings, and 20°C, with a 2°C tolerance, for other types of buildings.
NTR24 reports that the decision responds to forecasts of a significant drop in temperatures, especially in the morning and evening, and aims to protect the most vulnerable residents.
The full text of the ordinance, including its number and publication date, was not available in the material reviewed. Residents seeking confirmation for a specific building or system should check the City of Benevento's ordinance register for the published act.
